For Immediate Release
Manheim Township Fire Rescue – Joseph Kempf Memorial Cadet Camp 2018 to be postponed.
It has been announced that the Manheim Township Fire Rescue – Joseph Kempf Memorial Cadet Camp, typically scheduled for late June each year since 2007 at our Neffsville Community Fire Company station on East Oregon Road, is being postponed this year due to a building renovation project at that location. The Joseph Kempf Memorial Cadet Camp provides a daytime program for children entering grades 2nd and 3rd, and an overnight/day camp opportunity for children entering grades 4th through 8th. The camp has served over 1,000 children in the last 10 years.
The building renovation project, which encompasses almost the entire fire station facility, has necessitated the decision to not hold the Cadet Camp 2018. This decision was reached only after careful review of available facilities, including the possibility of relocating the Cadet Camp for 2018. A decision was made that it is simply not feasible to relocate the Cadet Camp, and the building project will span through the summer making it impossible to run the Cadet Camp at its present location.
While we are concerned that a one year break in running Cadet Camp may be detrimental to its success, we are confident that this one year break will allow us to retool the Cadet Camp, and bring it back in 2019 with new ideas, new events, and additional staff to make the end result even better for all the children who have enjoyed attending the camp. The Cadet Camp event will be scheduled again in 2019 in late June, returning to its usual time frame.
Any questions can be directed to www.neffsvillefire.com or mtfrstaff@manheimtownship.org. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our attendees or their families. We look forward to seeing everyone back on June 21st and 22nd 2019 for a bigger and better Joseph Kempf Memorial Cadet Camp!
